Greece

Regional workshop for Greek speaking regions and others

The workshop took place on 22 February 2011 was held in parallel with the Road Safety Event at Zappeio Megaron in Athens, co-organised by FERSI and CERTH/HIT; under the auspices of Ministry of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks.

The workshop aimed at informing regional and international stakeholders about the work performed in PROLOGUE, its objectives and the potentials of a large scale naturalistic study. Furthermore, it primarily aimed at introducing naturalistic driving methodology and studies to Greek and regional stakeholders. Regarding Greek and regional professionals most of them were related to the industry and private companies (35%). On the other hand, the vast majority of international participants were mostly working in European research institutes (85%).

Evangelos Bekiaris, research director of CERTH/HIT moderated the workshop and also gave a speech on the future potentials of naturalistic driving studies. Rob Eenink (SWOV), the project coordinator initiated the workshop and discussed about the PROLOGUE project.
Invited speakers presented their perspective on infrastructure possibilities, small scale countries participation in large scale efforts, and the applicability of black boxes information in decreasing the number of road safety victims.
